About Me:
I currently work for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) as Digital Community Relations Coordinator and manage their social accounts for the Philadelphia region. I was the first to be hired for this position and over the course of my employment, I have developed several social media strategies that have grown PennDOT’s audience, specifically increasing @511PAPhilly’s twitter following by more than 35% since being hired in June 2017.
Before PennDOT I worked at CBS Philadelphia and NBC10 Philadelphia and helped cover the 2016 presidential election, including the Democratic National Convention, as well as the 2015 Amtrak train derailment and the Pope’s visit to Philadelphia. I also wrote original stories for NBC10.com and cbsphilly.com (see clips below) and produced accompanying videos which appeared in several newscasts. In August 2014 I pitched a story for NBC Philadelphia about a young couple who was asking for prayers on Facebook for their unborn baby recently diagnosed with a terminal illness and broke the “Bucketlist Baby Shane” story. The story I wrote was also posted to NBC Philadelphia’s Facebook page and set new share and reach records. It also made the list of top 10 digital stories in 2014. The feedback I received from finding original stories through social media helped pave the way for my current career as a digital media professional. I pay attention to what people post and why and am constantly brainstorming ideas for new content whether it’s posting to our Facebook groups to keep Pennsylvanians informed and engaged or creating a clever new graphic or video.
